Saquib Toor

Saquib Toor is the Founder of Beaconhouse Capital Management, where he spearheads strategic and investment decisions. His exemplary tenure at Beaconhouse included a stint as CEO of TPG Plastics LLC, a company he innovatively formed in 2018 to repurpose the assets of The Plastics Group Inc. With a diverse and rich career spanning over two decades, Saquib has accumulated considerable operating, investment, and corporate advisory experience at premier investment firms in New York City and Los Angeles.

Prior to establishing Beaconhouse, Saquib served as an Investment Executive at esteemed organizations such as D.E. Shaw & Co. and Knighthead Capital. His responsibilities there encompassed sourcing and investing in private and distressed investment credit opportunities. His investment portfolio was diverse, covering multiple asset classes—such as equities, performing credit, distressed credit—and industries, including Consumer, Industrials, Healthcare Services, Biotechnology, Food & Retail, Middle East, and unique “off the run” situations.

Before his engagement with D.E. Shaw & Co., Saquib held a Principal position at Centerbridge Partners and JLL Partners. He was instrumental in executing private equity transactions and making credit investments for the hedge fund. Notably, he was involved in high-profile deals such as PGT Innovations Inc (NYSE: PGTI), Builders FirstSource (NYSE: BLDR), and AdvancePCS.

In the earlier stages of his career, Saquib honed his skills as an investment banker at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette in their Los Angeles office. His work included involvement in private placements, high yield offerings, equity offerings, mergers & acquisitions, and restructurings.

Saquib is a proud alumnus of The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, where he completed his BS in Economics in a span of three years, followed by an MBA in 2006. His academic and professional journeys illustrate a consistent commitment to excellence, making him a respected figure in the investment community.

As a Principal at Beaconhouse Capital Management, Pavel Smyshlyaev provides indispensable leadership and direction. His responsibilities encompass significant involvement in portfolio company operations, spanning commercial strategies, operational improvements, and capital expenditure activities. This is bolstered by his wealth of experience, spanning over two decades across investment, corporate advisory roles, investment banking, and capital markets. His career is adorned with a rich spectrum of expertise, including public and private equity investment, distressed and special situations, as well as trading in high yield and investment-grade debt.

Prior to his engagement with Beaconhouse, Pavel lent his talents to Strauss Capital Partners LLC, a boutique investment banking firm based in New York. In this role, he was instrumental in facilitating a series of significant transactions. His prior accomplishments also include a formidable display of aptitude in trading distressed credit at esteemed institutions such as Merrill Lynch and Viking Global Investors, LP. The latter, a distinguished ‘Tiger Cub’ hedge fund, manages $24 billion in assets, and it was there that Pavel cemented his status as the firm’s pioneer credit analyst.

In his earlier career, Pavel served a tenure at Berenson & Company, Inc., a New York-based boutique investment bank. His core focus involved leading in-court and out-of-court restructuring assignments, contributing to the breadth of his adaptable skill set. Pavel’s illustrious journey commenced as an investment banking analyst in the industrials group of Salomon Smith Barney.

Academically, Pavel is an honors graduate from Swarthmore College, having earned a BA in Mathematics with a concentration in Statistics and Economics in 2000. The synthesis of his solid academic grounding and vast professional experience forms a cornerstone of Pavel’s significant strategic contributions to Beaconhouse Capital Management.
